I’ve heard it too many times that the number of downloads isn’t that relevant when it comes to getting sponsorships, but at the back of my mind I was still wondering how that can be.

Podcast monetization options to consider

Most businesses send out weekly or monthly emails. Some even send daily! So, if you’re one of them, you really need to pay attention to what’s to follow.

Your newsletter is valuable. Right? Firstly, it’s valuable because it provides useful and curated content for your ideal audience. When I say ideal, I actually mean niche – your niche. And what better way to speak to a select number of people who are interested in what you have to say? They’re all ears!

This should be one of your go-to podcast monetization options.

Standard newsletter

You can offer newsletter sponsorship to whoever needs contact with the audience you speak to. Use your email list numbers to speak to the companies wanting to get in front of people’s eyes. Make sure you point out that this is a niche audience specifically interested in x,y,z.

LinkedIn newsletter

Why not include your LinkedIn newsletter in your podcast monetization options, too? How many newsletter subscribers do you have? Better yet, how many connections do you have? You’ll be promoting your newsletter to all of them anyway!

What to offer to potential sponsors

You can offer single newsletter sponsorship – you could write one specific one related to the sponsor’s offer if you wanted to.

Or you can ask them to sponsor a whole month’s or quarter’s worth of newsletters.

Think what podcast monetization options you could craft for your potential sponsors for your newsletter. It might be something else – like a monthly mention in a newsletter even though you send weekly. The offer just needs to have solid ground and make sense for the company that pays for the sponsorship.
